In fact, this is the key difference and why should should consider this choice carefully, since the archaic desktop Windows inherently allows far more types of malware, with literally many thousands of individual malware produced each day that affect this outdated platform.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t do it if you badly need to se a particular application that’s unavailable from the Windows 10 Store. Only that you need to seriously consider whether that software is truly worth this huge loss of security or whether there might be some other, newer app from either another or even the same software vendor that could accomplish the same purpose.
